Asha DiMatteo-LePape

Asha is dedicated to helping folks get outside and breaking down barriers to accessing outdoor recreation. She joined the Petra Cliffs team in Summer 2023 as the Assistant SumMAT Camp Director, and is moving into a role as the Outdoor Program Manager.

Asha completed her MS in Forest Resources at the University of Maine, following her BS in Parks, Recreation, & Tourism and Ecology & Environmental Science. During her undergraduate career, Asha worked for the Maine Bound Outdoor Adventure Center where she guided outdoor trips, including introductory sessions and extended advanced skills trips, worked at an indoor rock wall, and facilitated outdoor ropes course groups. Asha was the gear and rental manager for the center where she oversaw all equipment rentals, trained staff in gear maintenance and rental systems, and served as a customer support specialist. She has extensive knowledge and first hand experience with backcountry camping, rock and ice climbing, and mountaineering.

Asha is especially passionate about climbing and introducing new people to the sport; she has worked as a Climbing Wall Instructor and led outdoor climbing trips with the Maine Bound Center, including for their freshman new student outdoor orientation program, "Black Bear Bound." As the graduate assistant for the Outdoor Leadership Program at UMaine, Asha assisted in program development and outdoor course implementation. She is an avid winter adventurer and served as an Americorps member with the Catamount Trail Association where she taught cross-country skiing to kids, oversaw multiple fleets of nordic ski equipment, and discussed nordic and backcountry ski equipment options with folks looking to get into the sport.
