Training for your next big alpine objective

Once you’ve finished the fun part of deciding on a new alpine objective, it’s on to the second most fun part: training! From strength workouts to cardio to technical skills, training is essential for an enjoyable and successful alpine undertaking. Training can take many forms; the best training closely emulates what you hope to achieve in the mountains. This is where the Petra Cliffs Mountaineering School comes in.

Here are just some of the reasons Petra Cliffs should be your go-to for training for your next objective:

Multi-pitch climbing

The Northeast is especially suited for training for your next mountain adventure.

We are within a days drive of many different climbing areas with a wide variety of rock types and climbing styles. If you are looking to develop your technical skills for a specific objective, we can find a similar rock type, style, and technicality all while staying in the Northeast.

Trad climbing practice

Our programming is completely customizable.

We work directly with you to develop a curriculum that meets your goals and needs. This means no time wasted covering things you already know or having to choose between different areas of development. We can help you get a certain number of pitches in, dial in on hyper-specific technical skills, and help evaluate your individual proficiency. We prioritize ending every session with next steps so you have a clear path forward on your climbing training journey.

Rappelling

We have more than just technical climbing instruction.

Our guides and instructors can also provide strength training and conditioning recommendations, tips for fueling for long days, and location-specific beta. Our team has a wealth of knowledge and years of experience planning and executing expeditions in the mountains. This means you get an encyclopedia of first-hand experience to draw from as you plan for your trip.

The Petra Cliffs Mountaineering School can help you get to the summit and back again in the best form possible. If you are scheming a big mountain objective, get in touch!
