Anna Presnall

Born in Burlington, Vermont, Anna grew up in Alabama. She returned to Vermont every summer and participated as a camper in Petra Cliffs’ SumMAT Camp for as long as she was able. She is very excited to return to camp as a counselor for the second summer in a row and hopes to instill in her campers the same joy she felt as a camper. Anna attends the University of Alabama at Birmingham majoring in International Studies through the Honors College. She loves spending as much time outside as possible, whether it be hiking in the hot and humid Alabama weather or taking advantage of all the experiences Vermont has to offer. Anna is very excited to continue her counselor experience at Petra Cliffs this summer!

Christian Pages

Christian is a student at the University of Vermont studying agriculture and sustainable development. Originally from Arlington Virginia, he moved up to enjoy the cold winters and the beautiful Burlington summers. Christian is very excited to be apart of the SumMAT camp experience for his first summer this year. He enjoys spending time outside enjoying nature, birding, and bouldering.

Kathleen Tobelmann

Kathleen loves trying new things and challenging herself! She sees rock climbing as an opportunity to do so while enjoying life alongside good people! Outside of the climbing world, Kathleen's other interests include yoga, ceramics, biking, food systems, and backpacking. Kathleen started studying nutrition and working within the outdoor program at West Chester University of Pennsylvania near her hometown but decided to come to Vermont to explore these and other passions further. We happily welcomed her onto our team as a leader in our SumMAT Camp program, and now that summer is over you might see her at the desk or wrangling some of our Mini Monkeys! 

Olivia Arms

Olivia recently graduated from the University of Vermont majoring in Environmental Studies and Biology. She grew up in Shelburne where she enjoyed spending time outdoors and on the lake. After competing and teaching Gymnastics throughout high school, she transitioned to rock climbing during college and fell in love with both the challenge and flexibility that the sport provides. She took a NOLS rock climbing and backpacking course in the Rocky Mountains where she began learning how to climb outdoors and now she continues to enjoy hiking, climbing, camping, snowboarding, and surfing. She’s worked with kids around Vermont through King Street Center, Gymstar Gymnastics and Kids on Top. She is looking forward to spending an adventurous summer outside doing the things she loves!

Patrick Strobel

Pat is stoked to be returning for his second full summer of SumMAT Camp. A regular at the front desk and involved with other youth programming, he is excited to share the psych for the outdoors with campers! While attending the University of Vermont he found rock climbing, enjoying the physical and mental problem solving it requires. He graduated from UVM in 2017 with a degree in chemistry, and is seeking a teaching license to teach the subject at the high school level.

Shayna is currently a student at UVM studying elementary education and special education. She is originally from Denville, NJ but has fallen in love with Vermont and never wants to leave! She loves skiing, kayaking, biking, and most of all hiking! Shayna is even a Long Trail Thru-Hiker! She is super pumped to jump into her 2nd summer at SumMAT camp and all the adventures it will bring!  

Sofia Silverglass

Sofia can’t wait to get out and about in the woods with SumMAT this summer! Originally from Boston, MA, Sofia fell in love with Vermont while studying geography and education at Middlebury College. Since graduating from university, she has worked in outdoor education in Boston, in the Adirondacks, and in New Zealand. Sofia spends most of her time covered in dirt — climbing, hiking, gardening, and doing pottery — ideally with a maple creemee in hand. This is Sofia’s first summer at Petra Cliffs, but her 16th year of camp. She is so excited for a season full of riddles, games, and adventures before beginning work as a preschool teacher in the fall!

Sarah Montroll

We are thrilled to have Sarah joining us for a few amazing weeks this summer! Born and raised in Burlington, Vermont, she loves to take advantage of the incredible opportunities this little state has to offer whether it be by backpacking, nordic skiing, running, or sipping on some maple syrup. Sarah was part of our 2017 SumMAT Leader team and will be jumping in for a few weeks of 2018 as she balance her Yoga Teach Training through the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health and hiking on the Long Trail before heading back to school at the University of Vermont.

Sienna DeVoe-Talluto

Sienna is thrilled to be joining the SumMAT staff this summer. She is always inspired by good conversations, friends, family, music and its power to communicate with the soul, the beauty of nature, the genuine curiosity of young people, the random kindness of others, yoga and its ability to transform, the gratitude of all living beings, and the lifelong journey of learning. Next year Sienna will be traveling in Nepal during her gap year to immerse herself in a new culture while studying Buddhism and then go to Guatemala to volunteer with a school called Niños de Guatemala for a few weeks.  Sienna can’t wait to spend time outside adventuring, teaching, and  learning with the campers!

Ian Browning 

Sarah Montroll

Born and raised in Burlington, Vermont, she loves to take advantage of the incredible opportunities this little state has to offer whether it be by backpacking, nordic skiing, running, or sipping on some maple syrup.This coming year, Sarah is planning to take a gap year to participate in a NOLS course out West and to travel to Guatemala, eventually ending up at Macalester College in Minnesota. After spending the past four summers as a lead counselor at a circus arts camp she is super excited to be spending her first summer working at Petra Cliffs!

Seamus Nolan

Seamus is very excited to be returning to SumMAT Camp for the second summer. He's looking forward to kayaking, caving, climbing, and generally spending all day outside! Seamus is a rising junior at Middlebury College, majoring in Geography and Political Science. Apart from his studies, Seamus is a jumper on the Middlebury Track & Field team. Growing up in Williston, Vermont, Seamus has always enjoyed taking advantage of everything Vermont has to offer like hiking, skiing, running, kayaking, and biking. Seamus is thrilled to be working at SumMAT Camp this summer!

Daylin Poon

Daylin is super exited to work as a SumMAT camp counselor. She grew up as the oldest of four siblings and loves working with kids. She has a strong  passion for any activity that involves being outside; a few of the top picks are rock climbing, camping and hiking. She grew up in South Burlington Vermont and is currently attending Western State Colorado University, working towards a degree in Biology with a minor in Recreation and Outdoor Education. Her dream job is to teach kids about how fragile the Earth's, and specifically Vermont's ecosystems are and how we as humans can help keep Vermont the beautiful state that everyone knows and loves. 

Jacob Iarussi

This is Jacobs first summer working as a SumMAT camp counselor, and he couldn't be more excited! Jacob was born and raised in New York City, but after living there for 18 years he had had enough of the city life, and decided to attend the University of Vermont. Jacob has been absolutely loving Burlington so far, and has become a coach for the UVM climbing team, as well as a UVM Outing Club leader. Jacob spends his free time rock climbing, skiing, swimming in Lake Champlain, trying to understand ice climbing, and generally pursuing adventure. He can't wait to share his passion for the outdoors with campers!

Chloe Boutelle

Chloe loves to be active; climbing, mountain and road biking, hiking, running, rollerblading, and Nordic and alpine skiing, she enjoys it all. She graduated Michael’s College with a B.S in Biology and is currently a pursuing her master’s degree in Food Systems at UVM.  At St. Mike’s Chloe was a member of the Cross Country running and Nordic Ski teams.  She also loves to travel, she spent a semester abroad in New Zealand and after graduation backpacked around Europe for six weeks before moving to Park City, Utah for eight months to take advantage of the opportunity to climb, ski and mountain bike there.  She could not be more excited to work with kids again this summer in SumMAT Camp!

Matt Haddock

Matt grew up in Richmond, Vermont in a log cabin with his parents and brother. He spent his childhood hiking through Vermont trails, snowboarding at Bolton Valley, and spending as much time outside as possible. Matt is now a senior at Lyndon State College studying psychology and Human-Services, and plans to use his degree in the social work field after he graduates. After spending this past semester studying abroad in Peru hiking through the Andes and Trekking through the Amazon, Matt was inspired to return for a second year as a SumMAT camp leader to share his love for adventures in the outdoors!

Cole Thomas

Cole was born and raised in Southeastern Connecticut and moved to Vermont to attend Champlain College as a business major in 2014. After switching his major to Communications, and then to Environmental Policy, he still was dissatisfied. His thirst for the outdoors and adventure was not being fulfilled, so he packed up and did a NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School) semester in the rockies, where he lived and learned in the backcountry of the Rockies for 89 days. He then transferred to Western State Colorado University in Gunnison Colorado to pursue a degree in Recreation and Outdoor Education. He spends his summers in Vermont because he misses the lush and green deciduous forests of the East. His dream is to inspire others to get outside and appreciate and take care of the playground that we live on.

Elijah Santos

Elijah is a junior Environmental Policystudent at Champlain College, and this is his first summer working as a SumMAT counselor. He was raised in Morrisville, Vermont, and has always had a love for the outdoors. Eli is a passionate climber, and loves all disciplines of the sport. When not climbing (which is a rarity) he can be found mountain biking, hiking, or just generally wallowing in the woods. Though already Wilderness First Responder certified, he hopes to eventually become obtain a Single Pitch Instructor certification through the AMGA. Being from Vermont, he was raised with an appreciation for the outdoors, and he can’t wait to pass this on to the campers!

Ella Causer

Ella Causer is a Burlington native and is heading off to her first year if college in the fall! She is a runner, backpacker, and nordic skier. She loves sunflowers, water melon juice, and impromptu dancing. Ella is so excited to be joining the SumMAT team this year! 

Evan Kirk

Rock Specialist

Climbing since 2010, Evan joined the Petra staff when he moved to Burlington to finish his undergrad at UVM. If he’s not rock climbing he’s running, mountain biking, cycling, hiking, skiing, ice climbing, or generally, doing anything that doesn’t involve water (unless that water is frozen of course). Evan works the front desk during the year, and has worked as a SumMAT Leader in the past, but is super stoked to return to camp as the SumMAT Rock Specialist this year! He enjoys helping new climbers gain the confidence and skills they need to have a great time at camp, and can't wait for the epic adventures SumMAT Camp has to offer in 2017!

Tim Farr

Kayak Specialist

Tim spent much of his younger life on or in the water. Growing up along a river in Norther Michigan, Tim spent his summers in a pool or in a boat. After completing High School he moved away to pursue his degree and joined the Universities Crew Team that first year. Practices at 4:30am until class at 8am was common and after that first year of college, Tim moved to Alaska where he became and Expedition Sea Kayak Guide throughout Southeast Alaska. He would spend much of Spring, Summer and Fall in the seat of a kayak taking folks into the wilds of Alaska for a week or longer at a time. He split his time guiding and instructing for the Univ. of Alaska Southeast teaching Sea Kayaking, Swift Water Rescue and Whitewater Kayaking skills for many years. He then moved back to the lower 48 and to Vermont and worked as a guide and instructor throughout the Northeast and beyond. He has led trips and trained paddlers in Alaska, Washington, Idaho, Maine, Vermont and beyond for the better half of a decade. To learn more about Tim and his role at Petra Cliffs click HERE

Seamus Nolan

This is Seamus's first summer working as a SumMAT Camp Counselor, but he went to camp for five years as a kid! He's excited to be back caving, climbing, and generally spending all day, every day, outside having fun! Heather Twerdahl

Heather graduated from The University of Vermont with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education, English endorsement. After taking the past couple of years off to focus on a career with the Howard Center, Heather is thrilled to be returning for her fifth season of SumMAT camp! Over the course of her time at UVM, Heather has worked and volunteered with a variety of community agencies, including: Tuttle Middle School, Edmunds Middle School, Milton Middle School, the King Street Youth Center, and the Howard Center. Born and raised in Connecticut, Heather spent many childhood summers on a lake in New Hampshire, where she fell in love with kayaking, sailing, fly fishing, and water skiing. In her free time, Heather enjoys playing tennis, swimming, being outside, and barbecuing with her friends. She is very excited to be returning for another year of SumMAT adventures!!

Katherine Manley

Katherine grew up in Chittenden County on a farm with her parents and brother. She feels very grateful to have been raised in the Green Mountain State. Her favorite summer activities are cliff jumping, swimming, kayaking, and hiking. She also likes to ski, play field hockey, read, and spend time with her family. Katherine studies at Champlain College and aspires to be a social worker within the education system. She has volunteered with Chamberlin Elementary School, Milton High School, and ECHO Lake and Science Center. Katherine is so excited for the fun-filled summer ahead with SumMAT Camp!

Hayden Bove

Hayden is returning for his third year as a SumMAT Camp Leader, and he has continued working throughout the year at Petra Cliffs managing the Front Desk and facilitating birthday parties.  He has enjoyed being outdoors since a young age. Growing up in Jericho, Vermont Hayden was lucky enough to have the Green Mountains in his back yard which allowed him to play in them all the time. While outside, he especially likes to spend his time running, climbing and skiing. After attending college in Maine for a year and a half he moved back to his home state to take classes at UVM. When Hayden is not outside he likes to read all types of book and is always looking for a good suggestion of what to read next.

Brennan Lynch

Brennan grew up here in Burlington, Vermont. She is a senior at UVM studying math and special education. Throughout the school year Brennan participates in DREAM, a program for children and teens living in affordable housing neighborhoods. When not hanging out with DREAMers, she can be found climbing biking, or eating a pint of Tonight Dough! This is Brennan's first summer with us, and she is super excited for all of the fun that SumMAT Camp has to offer!

Nicole Israel-Meyer

Nicole is studying environmental science at Johns Hopkins University. She moved to Vermont 8 ½ years ago and it is here where she fell in love with the outdoors. She loves to kayak, climb, hike, canoe and cave around Vermont and around Baltimore as part of the Johns Hopkins Outdoors Club. She is also part of the Blue Footed Boobies Ultimate Frisbee team and a tutoring group. This is Nicole's second summer as a SumMAT Camp Leader and can't wait to get outdoors with everyone and spend time with campers old & new!

Matt Haddock

Andie Gemme

Andie loved camp so much in 2014 that she decided to come back for a second summer! She graduated this spring from St. Michael's College with a degree in Environmental Studies and was an active member and instructor for the Wilderness Program, leading rock and ice climbing trips as well as hiking and backpacking.  Originally from Massachusetts, she has found her home in Vermont and has spent the past four years exploring the mountains as best she can and can't wait for the summer!

Ethan Silver Wheeler

Ethan is a Junior studying Music Business and Technology at UVM. Growing up he spent summers backpacking with his family in the White Mountains and rock climbing in his home state of Pennsylvania. When he's not rock climbing, Ethan is a dedicated musician and spends his time writing and recording, and playing shows around Burlington with his band Kudu Stooge. He loves seeing live music, loves being outdoors, and skiing in the winter. This is Ethan's first summer at Petra Cliffs and he is more than excited to be a part of the SumMAT Camp team!

Katrina Brace

Katrina has joined the SumMAT Staff team this season as our Rock Specialist! She is an AMGA (American Mountain Guide Association) Single Pitch Instructor. Katrina began her climbing experience on the coast of Maine in Acadia National Park about 6 years ago.  Originally from the Boston area of MA she is an Environmental Sutdies/Geology student at the University of Vermont.  Katrina is very active at UVM as a TREK Orientation Leader and a climbing leader in the Outing Club. When not climbing with camp Katrina loves to do everything else outdoors from  climbing on her own to hiking and paddling adventures!

Betsy Manero

Betsy is returning to SumMAT Camp for her second year as a Rock Climbing Specialist.  She is a St. Michael's College graduate in the Media Studies and Journalism Program. She was also very active in the Wilderness Program, specializing in climbing, and is an AMGA (American Mountain Guides Association) Single Pitch Instructor.  Betsy loves to travel and was fortunate to spend a semester in Nepal and trekking through the Himlalaya.  She also loves working with kids and can't wait to see her favorite outdoor activities through their eyes again this summer!

Alan Chu

Alan is returning this season as a "Super Sub" SumMAT Leader and climbing guide, and he recently became an AMGA Certified Single Pitch Instructor. He has many passions and pursuits, and he is trying to balance them all!  He is currently studying microbiology at the University of Vermont and is an avid photographer. Alan came to Burlington to start his college career, where he began falling in love with the Vermont life.  He quickly got into the outdoors through a leader development program with the Outing club, and has been leading climbing trips for the UVM Outing Club for over three years. Alan also coordinates and volunteers in a program that takes kids from the Boys & Girls club outside for mini adventures during the school year. 

Josephine Adamski

Josephine, a VT native, is currently going to Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington (the place so nice they named it twice!),  where she is on the Sweets frisbee team, listens to as much music as possible, and works as a climbing instructor.   In her free time she is studying to be a rhetoric major.  Josephine started climbing around 10 years old at Smith Rocks in Oregon and has been clipped ever since. When she can't get on the rock she loves surfing, rafting, and drinking coffee.  Josephine is a new SumMAT Camp leader and is really stoked to continue to share her passion of climbing this summer with those around her!  

Sam Mervis

Sam is a returning SumMAT Camp Leader and a Senior at the University of Vermont pursuing a degree in Dietetics and Food Science. He started climbing two years ago and has really found himself in this sport. He particularly loves bouldering both indoor and outdoor. He has been playing squash for nine years and enjoys it for its competitive edge and fast pace. Sam sees the summer as an opportunity to explore new opportunities and adventures, and is very excited to work at SumMAT Camp this year.

Patrick Strobel

Patrick is a junior at the University of Vermont pursuing a degree in Chemistry. He was raised in rural Pennsylvania, where he had the opportunity to run and hike on the Appalachian Trail, which ran through his backyard. Patrick became interested in climbing on a NOLS mountaineering course and has climbed through college on the UVM climbing team. When not climbing Patrick enjoys other outdoor activities such as running, cycling, and backpacking. This is Patrick’s first year as a SumMAT Camp Leader and, he is excited to share the stoke the outdoors provides!

Max Kleiner

Max is a junior at UVM studying History, Anthropology, and English. He likes to read, climb, write, bike, play guitar, go on long walks, listen to music, and have fun. He held jobs teaching pottery classes to children, tutoring writing, scooping ice cream, and running a Quesadilla & Hot Dog stand. He’s a Brooklynite, and psyched for a summer of climbing, kayaking and caving with SumMAT!

Camden Latimer

Jamie Rushford

Jamie has worked for Petra Cliffs since 2011 running birthday parties, camps, and routesetting.  He was born and raised in Essex, VT and lived there until a year ago, when he moved to Colorado, starting school at Colorado College studying Biology. Prior to starting college, Jamie traveled to Argentina to go mountaineering for two months and almost summited Aconcagua. He has been climbing for almost 5 years and bouldering is his style of choice, getting to climb all over the Rocky Mountains while at school. When he isn’t searching for new boulders, he loves playing guitar, backcountry snowboarding, mountaineering, running, and having fun outdoors!

Hannah Pelkey

Hannah is a returning SumMAT Camp leader and was born and raised in St. Albans, Vermont. Hannah graduated from the University of Vermont where she studied elementary education, and has been applying for Kindergarten positions in Vermont. While at UVM, she was a member of the UVM Rock Climbing team. Hannah likes to spend her free time in the mountains rock climbing, ice climbing, or hiking. On days that she can’t get to the mountains, she enjoys running, biking, and slacklining. Hannah loves to share her passion for outdoor activities and is very excited to be working at Petra Cliffs SumMAT Camp this summer!

Haleahy Craven

Haleahy is a returning SumMAT Camp leader, Petra Cliffs Climbing Team Coach, and UVM graduate, where she studied environmental sciences and ecological design.  Haleahy grew up outside of Philadelphia and was lucky enough to have enjoyed many family vacations traveling and exploring the outdoors. She fell in love with Vermont after moving here for college and it is here where she truly discovered her passion for skiing, rock climbing, whitewater kayaking, and simply enjoying the outdoors with good company.  Haleahy is very excited to be sharing these passions with others this summer and is looking forward to getting kids to tune out of their electronics and and into playing outside.

Luke Puma

Luke has worked at Petra Cliffs since 2008 and is a returning SumMAT Camp Leader!  He is a local Vermonter, born and raised in Shelburne. He joined the Petra Cliffs Climbing Team at age 12 and has been a climber ever since. He attended Champlain Valley Union High School where he was captain of the climbing club. Now he is a Senior at the University of Vermont where he studies Mechanical Engineering. Outside of climbing, Luke loves biking, swimming, hiking and playing Frisbee.

Dominique Powers

Dominique was born here in Burlington but grew up between Middlebury, Vermont, where her mother lives, and Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where her father lives.  She has spent much of her childhood adventuring in the outdoors and enjoying nature.  Now she is a rising junior at the University of Vermont, majoring in Art Education.  Dominique enjoys doing anything artsy or outdoorsy and can’t wait to share that passion while working at SumMAT camp!

Chris Cullaz

Chris is a UVM graduate and worked this past year with the Petra Cliffs Mini Monkeys after school program.  He incorporated what he learned from coaching the Mini Monkeys into his self-designed major concentration, and got an A!  Chris can't get enough of climbing- both rock and ice- and is excited to be taking a trip to the Cascades this summer to experience alpine climbing.  Chris loves the community he has found in Burlington and can't wait to be sharing his passion for the outdoors, climbing, and adventuring with the SumMAT Campers!

Izzy Lazarus

Izzy Lazarus was born and raised in NYC, spending the first eighteen years of her life as a competitive ice hockey player. She came to UVM in 2011 to find her passion for wilderness adventure and education. She studies Parks, Recreation and Tourism and Forestry. Izzy is a leader in the Outing Club for backpacking, rock and ice climbing trips. Sharing the outdoors with people is Izzy's favorite thing to do, along with long boarding, reading, road tripping, watching sunsets and eating food!!

Emma Yardley

Emma is a local gal who has lived in Williston, VT for most of her life, climbing at Petra Cliffs since the age of 6 or so. Emma attended Champlain Valley Union High School and then began planning some adventures for her Gap year! Emma went to the great country of Nepal, home of the Himalayas for a few months. There she studied, trekked, lived in the city and rural villages and had an all around great experience. This past year she ventured out West to go to Prescott College in Arizona and pursue a degree in Outdoor Education. Emma loves baking tasty cookies... maybe if you ask her nicely she'll bake some for you!  Emma also loves climbing, hiking, biking and just being outdoors, rain or shine.

Blaise Sullivan

Blaise is a rising junior at the University of Vermont and is studying Political Science and Community and International Development. She grew up in Atlanta, GA and has spent almost every summer since she was 9 years old at a summer camp in northern Georgia. She is a currently the vice president of the UVM Outing Club and loves taking people outdoors to go on adventures, have new experiences and create great memories. Her interests include hiking, biking, reading, swimming, canoeing and eating macaroni and cheese.

Ben Teasdale

Ben is an unofficial Vermont local, living in Williston for the past 15 years of his life.  He attended Champlain Valley Union High School, where he was the captain of the lacrosse team and champion of the 2011 limbo competition. Two years ago, Ben moved to Burlington and began studying at the University of Vermont, where he is taking a pre medical track. Beyond his schoolwork, Ben leads other students on rock and ice climbing trips with the UVM Outing Club. He also loves traveling, and has done some adventuring in Eastern Africa.

Hunter Hedenberg

Hunter was born and raised near Burlington VT, and is is now a rising sophomore at Macalester College in St. Paul, MN where she is majoring in International Studies with a concentration in Human Rights and Humanitarianism, and minoring in French. At school she is the president of the rock climbing club, and also a varsity springboard diver. She began competitive climbing on the Petra Cliffs team at 8 years old and has loved doing it recreationally ever since. She spent the last two summers lifeguarding and working and a sleepaway summer camp. When she is not at school or at work, she loves to spend her time mountain biking, running, swimming, skiing, cooking and travelling.

Erica Berger

Hi, I’m Erica, a junior studying biology at UVM.  I’m originally from Chicago and am a diehard Chicago blackhawks fan.  When I’m not in school I love to climb, canoe, hike, hoola hoop, and play settlers of catan.  I absolutely love the outdoors and hope to share that passion in any way I can.  I am so excited to be working at the Petra Cliffs SumMAT camp this summer!

Ben Danowitz

Upon graduating from Camp Hill High School in 2008, Ben moved into the University of Vermont with an assortment of interests.  After freshman year, he visited New Zealand to do some mountaineering and other general outdoor-exploring. After he returned, he chose to pursue a career as a high school English teacher in the University of Vermont's School of Education and Social Services. If you were to scout him out on an ordinary day, you might find him rock climbing, working with local elementary schools, eating pizza, or reading piles of books.

Laura Jackson

Laura Jackson is a Junior at the University of Vermont, majoring in Environmental Studies with a Community International Development minor. She has lived in Vermont all her life with her identical twin sister, older sister, parents, and dog.  She loves spending her free time outdoors-- downhill and nordic skiing and ice climbing during the winter months, and rock climbing, hiking, white water kayaking and biking during all other seasons. She also enjoys playing guitar and cello and singing with anyone who cares to join!

Branham Snyder

After living in south-central México for sixteen years, Branham moved to the University of Vermont to pursue a career in Civil/Environmental Engineering and to get after the outdoors of the northeast. Now a Senior, Branham has taken to the Vermont slopes on bikes and skis and is loving life in the Queen City. On a regular day you'll see him riding his bike, walking on his slack-line, rock climbing or grilling dinner with his friends over a Lake Champlain sunset.

Ben Yardley

Ben was born in North Conway, NH, but grew up in Williston, VT. He graduated from Champlain Valley Union High School and decided to stay local and attend the University of Vermont. Ben is now a Deans List student enrolled in the School of Business, studying Finance and Management Information Systems. Although he loves numbers, he also has a deep passion for the outdoors. Ben has a great amount of  rock climbing experience and has traveled as far as Utah and France to rock climb. He also loves to share his passion for rock climbing by leading Outing Club trips to local climbing destinations. Ben also enjoys hiking, kayaking, volleyball, and running-- he ran (and finished) his first marathon, the Vermont City Marathon, in 2012.

Molly MacLeod

Molly MacLeod is from Franconia, NH, where she grew up skiing, hiking, and biking. She is also a very accomplished hula hooper, a World Champion Rock, Paper, Scissors player, and a certified duck-duck-GOOSE referee. She graduated from Colby-Sawyer College in 2010 with an Exercise Science degree and has since been assistant coaching Saint Michael's College Alpine Ski Team. Molly will be moving onto Gould Academy to coach Alpine Ski Racing in the Fall, but until then is looking forward to working with Petra Cliffs SumMAT Camp this summer!!!

CJ Kimbell

CJ Kimbell was born and raised in Vermont. After graduating high school he took a gap year to do some exploring in Argentina and Western Europe.  CJ now attends the University of Vermont and is a rising Junior in the School of Business Administration.  He has worked as ski instructor at Woodstock’s local mountain Suicide Six and is a leader for UVM’s Outing Club.  Soccer, skiing, climbing, hiking, coffee, and Cheez-its remain CJ’s passions!

Max Ebenstein

Max Ebenstein is a local Vermonter from Richmond, Vermont. He now resides in Burlington where he is a Senior at UVM studying Parks, Tourism, and Reaction along with Statistics. During the winter he goes to classes, but most days you'll find him up at Stowe skiing with his buddies on the UVM Freeskiing Team. Max loves flipping and spinning off jumps made of snow. When all the snow has melted, this includes mud skiing, he switches over to playing soccer, swimming, hiking, and rock climbing during the summer months. One of his favorite past times in Burlington is biking out to Lone Rock and climbing over the water. He is looking forward to another amazing summer!

Brayden Landvater

Brayden was born in Vermont  and is currently going to school out west at Colorado State University studying bio-medical sciences. He loves climbing and skiing and basically anything that gets him out in the sun. He usually spends summers traveling- Brayden has guided climbing trips in Vietnam (Slopony Adventures) and has spent months traveling in East and West Africa.  Brayden has been working with Petra Cliffs since 2009 and is looking forward to a great summer camps season!
