L. Katie Alfin Johnson

Indoor Programs Manager, Instructor, Coach, Camp Leader

Sitting still is virtually impossible for this New England native. That's why Petra has become one of her favorite playgrounds! Katie grew up primarily around New Hampshire as a hiker, biker and snowboarder - completely oblivious to the wonders of climbable granite around her (Though climbing the Old Man In The Mountain always intrigued her!). Since 2011, she has utilized her restless nature as fuel to lead summer camps and outdoor education programs ranging from snowboard instructing in Colorado to surf instructing in Australia?! Settling into Vermont life in 2022 and finding her new home as a Petra Cliffs SumMAT counselor, Rec Team and private lesson coach, Katie is incredibly excited to take on the role of Indoor Programs Manager. She hopes to bring the community who so graciously welcomed her even closer through inclusive and encouraging programming.

Katie identifies as Queer and is always keen for a chat about Vermont's finest class 4 gravel rides, snowboards, and what your latest favorite snack is!

In May of 2020, she earned her 200 YYT Certification and a 25 hour Ayurvedic Specialty. She taught for two years through Melbourne and Phillip Island.

In January of 2022, she earned her Victorian Surf Life Saving qualification and taught surfing, sea kayaking, paddleboarding, coastal bike touring, and snorkling through the Bass Coast.

In June of 2022, Petra Cliffs helped her earn her Wilderness First Aid badge.
